Classroom Newsletter – March 8-12, 2021
Boy, oh boy…is this the year of changes. 😊 When we return from spring break, we will follow yet another schedule. I will post it on our class website and put it at the bottom of this newsletter. The new schedule is to help make a smoother transition when we open the schools for hybrid instruction.
Speaking of hybrid instruction, you will be receiving something from the district asking if your child will be staying fully online or returning to the school site two days a week and remain online for the other two. Regardless of the option you choose, I will remain your child’s teacher. We will be teaching both the students who are online and the students physically in the classroom simultaneously. If you choose for your child to return to our physical classroom two days a week, all materials will need to be brought to school each day – including pencils, markers, crayons, etc… Your child will also need their computer at school, as they will be in the classroom but will be in front of their computers with headsets on. You want to make sure your child has a backpack that can transport all their materials when it is their day to be physically in the classroom. As you make your decision, just know that they are not returning to “life as normal” at Manchester. I have been playing around with how far apart I can get our desks, and it will definitely be a challenge. Facemasks will have to be worn all day and socializing will be at a minimum.
Our third quarter is quickly coming to a close. The last day of quarter 3 is March 19. If your child has missing work, they have been given time on our asynchronous Mondays to work on it and get it turned in.
Our spring break will be from March 29 – April 5. We will resume our online instruction with the new schedule starting April 6 and will see when students will be brought back in the hybrid model. I know that this transition period will require a lot of grace and patience on all levels.
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement! Information regarding our hybrid return changes daily and I know that is stressful to you and to our students. I will do my best to provide your child with a well-planned fourth grade education regardless of the option you choose.
