April 19 - 23, 2021

What an amazing week it was actually getting to have students in the room with me!! It has definitely been a learning curve managing online and in-person at the same time, but it has been exciting. I hope all our students have felt included and like they are an important member of the class regardless of where they are learning from.

Hybrid Materials: If your child is part of the hybrid group, PLEASE make sure that they are bringing all the materials they will need for the day. I send a chat to the group each day with a list of what is needed for the following day. If you could check the list AND check their backpack, that would be greatly appreciated and help things go more smoothly for everyone. Most students have had to plug their computers in before the end of the day, so that charging cord is super important as well.

State Testing: If you read last week’s newsletter, you heard that our California State testing has been canceled. All students will be taking the i-Ready test once more this year to show growth. They can practice i-Ready as much as you would like them to from home. It is a self-paced online program that will move them up in levels as they progress. If they are struggling with a concept, you are welcome to help them understand it better.

Third Quarter Awards: Third Quarter awards will be handed out in class on Tuesday, April 21 at 10:30. If you child is at home on Tuesday, you are welcome to be at the computer with him/her when Mrs. Gengozian and Mr. Sasano come into our room to hand them out.

WordMaster Quiz 3: We will be taking the final WordMaster test on Thursday morning. Encourage your child to review the definitions from all 75 of the words we have learned this year.

Health Check: Please remember to do a health check for your child before every in-person day and have them stay home if they are not feeling well. They are welcome to join from home on their in-person day…it does not count as an absence.

Thank you for your incredible support…both our room 11 parent and students! There is no other group I would want to walk these uncharted waters with.
