Room 11 Classroom Newsletter – January 11-15, 2021

Welcome to 2021!! I hope your family enjoyed some time together during the holiday. The new year brings a new schedule to our virtual learning.

On a “normal” week, our schedule will look as follows:

Monday, when it is not a holiday, we will meet virtually from 9:00-9:30 and the rest of the day will be asynchronous work. Students will be assigned the most substantial amount of work on Monday, so they should expect to spend quite a bit of time working independently.

Tuesday – Friday we will meet virtually FOUR times a day.

9:00 - 9:45………10:00 - 10:45………11:00 - 11:45………12:30 – 1:15

The last live session is no longer an optional session for student help; it is a mandatory class session. The students will have some independent work to complete between 1:15 and 4:00.

Monday, January 11, I will have a MANDATORY third quarter materials pick-up from 8:30 – 12:00. The materials you pick up will be needed for our class on Tuesday. There will be a bag of materials left outside our classroom door so we can have a contact-free pick-up. Anyone can pick the bag up for your child, please just make sure they know to take the one with your child’s name on it.

Our second quarter awards assembly for fourth grade will be held on Tuesday, January 19 at 1:15. Your child will be receiving an award if he/she has a 3.0 or above GPA without any “P or U” in the effort codes. There is a copy in your child’s material bag that should be picked up on January 11.

There are quite a few Monday holidays in the months of January and February, so please make sure to read our class newsletter and weekly lesson plans when they are sent out each week so you, and your child, are clear on what the week will look like. I will continue to have students use their agendas each day to list work that needs to be completed as well as any important announcements. The agendas for this semester will be picked up in the supply bag on Monday, January 11.

I am looking forward to seeing all your children on our first Teams class of 2021 at 9:00 on Tuesday, January 12. We will use the materials from the Third Quarter Materials Pick-Up Day (Monday, January 11 from 8:30-12:00).
