Classroom Newsletter – February 16-19, 2021
There is a lot going on this week, so I will try to write in bullet form to make this easier to get through. 😊
School Pictures: Mrs. Gengozian has indicated that you were sent an invite to come to Manchester and have your child take their 2020-2021 school picture. You were invited to come on Tuesday OR Wednesday from 2:00-6:00 pm. If you have not seen an invitation, please call the school office and ask which day you should come.
Materials Pick-Up: We will be having another materials pick-up! I will have the bags out on Tuesday and Wednesday (February 16 and 17) from 1:30-6:00pm. You can swing by and grab your bag before or after taking your child’s picture. If you would rather grab the bag earlier in the day, please send me a message and I will have it outside earlier in the day. I will be putting any 2nd quarter academic awards in the bags as well to make one less stop in the office.
Organization: HELP!!! Please help your child get all the materials organized in a central location so they are not misplaced. I have suggested multiple times that they leave them all in a backpack or bin of some kind since they are less likely to be lost if they are put away. I promise that if I sent it home, your child received it. (My method of getting the materials ready is quite the process of triple-checking.)
WordMaster Analogy Test: We will be taking the WordMaster analogy test this Wednesday. If you need some meal conversation, pull out their 50 flashcards and make a WordMaster game out of it. The better they know all definitions of the words, the better they will do with the analogies.
Rancho Day: This Friday, February 19, we will have our Fourth Grade Rancho Day. There is a bag of craft materials in the pick-up that we will be using, but your child will need some of the basics…scissors, permanent markers, and glue. It will be a fun day wrapping up our Rancho Era with some fun crafts.
Camera On: This past week we had an example of how attending class with your camera on truly does make a difference! After meeting in break-out rooms I had the students send me a personal chat with the answers from their group. 11 students did not send the chat (that’s a LOT). Of those 11, 10 were students who attend class daily with their cameras off. As I have learned from all my own online meetings, there is more accountability on the part of the learner when the camera is on. If your child does not choose to keep their camera on, please have a discussion of how it will help them feel more connected and keep them more accountable. (They have already heard it from me multiple times…partly because and I love to see all their faces.) 😊
Thank you for your support and for all you are doing to help your child at home! Your efforts do not go unnoticed.
