November 30 - December 4, 2020

I hope all of our amazing Room 11 Gaters had a wonderful week away from their computers and enjoyed some time with family. We have three weeks left of fourth quarter, and they will zoom by quickly!

Mark your calendars for Monday, December 14! We will be having a mandatory pick-up day. The pick up will include a few items the students will need for classes when we return in January as well as all of the supplies they will need for our craft day on December 18. I will have each bag labeled and placed outside the room from 8:00-4:00 so you can swing by and grab it when it fits in your schedule. We will have an additional pick up day in January but want to include a few items in the December pick up so the students have what they need to begin third quarter on January 12.

Speaking of January...when we return in January, we will be following a different schedule than we are currently following. Mrs. Gengozian will be holding virtual parent meetings to talk about the changes over the next few weeks. Keep an eye on her newsletters for specific times when you can meet to ask questions and hear any new developments.

Manchester continues to be in the top 10 users of the Sora App! Please continue encouraging your child to read, read, read. Sora is accessible in their Clever account and has a ton of books to choose from. Your child can also reserve a book from the Manchester library through a different app on Clever.

With only a few weeks left of the second quarter, please help your child stay on track with handing in their independent work daily. The students who are completing the work right after our last session together are finding that they are able to manage their time and keep their grades showing their potential. The students I have met with that are struggling usually take a long break and find it hard to return to get the work done. I appreciate any support you can offer on your side.

For the students who need to take class materials with them to other locations each day, we will be using our California Adventure Notebook, Social Studies textbook, and Social Studies Research folder a lot over the last three weeks of the quarter, so it would be a good idea to pack them in the bags just in case. :-)

Thank you for your support,

Lanie Huene
