Classroom Newsletter – November 9 – 13, 2020

We only have four days of class this week! Wednesday is a non-school day to observe Veterans Day. We will meet on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday this week.

Most of the students have established a good routine for independent work, but some are still struggling. I would like for an adult look over the agenda every day! (This is making the assumption that the students are copying it down during class time.) This past week, I found some assignments that were ongoing throughout the week were not being completed until the last day and then were not given full effort. We work hard as a fourth-grade team to make the workload fit the 105 independent minutes, but if it is not being done daily, it will add up quickly. Thank you for helping create an environment where you child can complete the independent work right after our last class meeting. Please also keep an eye on ATLAS as the quarter progresses.

On Friday, November 18, we will spend the day creating an art project that is connected to our current reading book, Pasquala. I have provided all the paper materials, but your child will need scissors and white glue. Thank you for making sure your child has the supplies to make this project a success.

Math Facts! PLEASE help me help your child by making sure he/she has memorized their facts! The automaticity will help with math as we will be starting division this week. The students who know their math facts will find division is an easy progression.

Our WordMaster analogies test will be held on Thursday, November 19. Have you child practice the definitions of all 25 of the WordMaster vocabulary cards they made. The test will be in the form of analogies. Our class has been getting really good at figuring out the relationships of words.

Thank you,

Lanie Huene
