October 19-23, 2020

Parent conference week has arrived! We will be holding the conferences virtually from the link in our Parent Conference Channel on Teams. You will need to log into Teams using your child's account to access the meeting. I will place a waiting room on the meeting, so join just before your scheduled time, and I will let you in when the conference before you has finished. I will be showing the students how it will work, so they can help you if needed. I have placed a link to our Parent Conference sign-up in the channel as well so you can check your conference time.

Our first round of WordMaster Vocabulary was sent home with the second quarter materials. Over the next few weeks, we will be focusing on ALL the definitions, synonyms, and antonyms of 25 words. We will also be learning about analogies and how they work. Just before the Thanksgiving break, your children will be tested on the word definitions using analogies. This is a national program, and it is definitely one that is fun and challenging. :-)

Look through the school newsletter for information on Manchester's Groove-a-Thon. This will be held at 2:00 on Wednesday, October 28 for our fourth graders. You r child can earn prizes based on how much money you raise, but they are different from in the past for our Fund Run...so make sure to read through Mrs. Gengozian's letter for details.

Please plan for your child to be available for an on-line art lesson from our school art teacher, Mrs. Layne, on Friday, October 30. We will meet on Teams from 1:00-2:00 and will be using the materials in the large zip-lock baggie. Your child will also need scissors, glue, and one of their permanent markers for the activity.

AGENDAS AND ASSIGNMENT CARDS! Please continue to talk with your child daily about what independent work they have been assigned. This is not homework but is work we would be doing in class if we were face-to-face for the entire day. Their agendas should be written in each day, so you can check which assignments have been completed. I would still love for you to check your child's chat with me! If they have turned in unfinished work or if assignments are missing, it is often listed there.

Thank you for all of your continued support!

Lanie Huene
