Thank you for taking some time this week to look through your child's Teams account. The students did a much better job getting work turned in on time and I am certain that your involvement helped them stay on track. The independent work assigned should be completed directly after our 12:30 meeting so your child can easily get help from me if it is needed.
Progress Reports are scheduled to be sent by email this week. I believe the reports can be found in your student's email and in parent email if one was provided on ATLAS. You can always access your child's grade on ATLAS. We only have three weeks of our first quarter left, so if your child is wanting to improve any grades, it is imperative that work is completed correctly and timely. I am finding that some students seem to be rushing through their assignments and are sometimes not following the directions even though we read through them together, talk about them, and have them listed on the document itself.
Please help your child keep an eye out for missing work. If we were in the classroom, I may have them stay in for part of a lunch recess to complete work that has not been finished, but I don't have that as an option virtually. You can see assignments that have not been handed in on time by looking at your child's personal chat with me. I have been spending a lot of time and energy reminding students to get assignments turned in, and I want that responsibility to start transferring over to them. If your child turns in an assignment past the due date, a chat message needs to be sent to me from them so I know to check for it and grade it. Late assignments are now being entered into ATLAS as missing, which gives it a value of zero. Thank you for helping work get completed daily during the independent work time that is part of our eLearn day.
Our fourth-grade team is currently getting materials together for pick-up for the second quarter. The current plan is to have pick-up days during the afternoon on October 7 and 8. I will provide more details as we get closer to the pick-up date. We have not been provided any predetermined time that eLearn will continue, but we would like to be prepared. Please help your child keep all materials together, as they will come back to school when we are allowed to be together face-to-face.
Mrs. Gengozian and Mr. Sassano will be meeting with all fourth-grade students on Tuesday at 2:00. They will be holding a virtual assembly about Digital Expectations and Commitments. I will let the students know where to access the link during our meeting time on Tuesday.
Thank you for partnering with me on our eLearn journey,
Lanie Huene
